Dr. Yijun Cai graduated from Barts and The London School of Medicine before embarking on an impressive early career focused on ophthalmology. During his medical training, he completed a research elective at the world-renowned Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University in the United States, gaining valuable experience at one of the world’s leading eye centres.
Following qualification, Dr. Cai began his specialist ophthalmology training within the London Deanery, developing his surgical and clinical expertise across several of the UK’s most respected teaching hospitals. His early years included training at King’s College Hospital before progressing to Moorfields Eye Hospital, where he built a strong foundation in cataract, corneal and complex ophthalmic care while also becoming actively involved in clinical research and innovation.
