EuroEyes Celebrates Dr. Glenn Carp’s Prestigious Kritzinger Safari Award for Advancements in Refractive Surgery.
EuroEyes is thrilled to announce that Dr. Glenn Carp, esteemed partner of Professor Dan Reinstein at the renowned London Vision Clinic and an esteemed member of the EuroEyes Group of Eye Clinics, was awarded the distinguished Kritzinger Safari Award at the South African Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (SASCRS) biannual meeting in Durban on November 8, 2024. This prestigious honour reflects Dr. Carp’s exceptional contributions to laser vision correction, highlighting his dedication to advancing refractive surgery techniques and optimising patient outcomes worldwide.
The award was presented to Dr. Carp (centre) by Dr. Ed Anderson (left), President of SASCRS, alongside Dr. Frik Potgieter (right), member of the SASCRS Executive Committee. During the ceremony, Dr. Carp delivered the highly anticipated Kritzinger Safari Award Lecture titled “My Journey through SMILE: An Evidence-Based Approach to Developing and Optimising Outcomes.” His lecture delved into his pioneering work with the SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) procedure, shedding light on the rigorous scientific approach that has underpinned his development of new standards and enhanced surgical outcomes for patients globally.

With extensive experience as a laser eye surgeon, Dr. Carp has been instrumental in driving innovations alongside Professor Dan Reinstein, a world leader in refractive surgery. The two have not only published influential research that has shaped the field, but they are also deeply involved in advancing the VisuMax Laser System—the cutting-edge technology by ZEISS used in SMILE procedures and beyond. Their work has paved the way for higher precision, patient safety, and life-changing vision improvements for thousands.
