Dr. Jørn S. Jørgensen – ophthalmologist with more than 30 years of experience as a senior physician. In 1990 he was the first in Hamburg to introduce cataract surgery and phacoemulsification as an outpatient procedure. In 1993, he was the first to introduce LASIK in Hamburg.
Since 1990, Hamburg has been a pioneer in ophthalmic surgery, introducing groundbreaking innovations such as outpatient cataract surgery, LASIK, wavefront-guided LASIK, phakic lenses (ICL), Femto-LASIK, trifocal lens implants, and ReLEx SMILE, while also co-founding LASIK-TÜV to uphold the highest industry standards.
Pioneering Vision Correction Across Europe and Asia
In 1993, Dr. Jørgensen established EuroEyes in Hamburg. Between 1993 and 2022, EuroEyes expanded its presence, opening 20 clinics in Germany, 5 in Denmark, and 2 in the UK.
In 2013, EuroEyes became the first foreign clinic group to establish an eye clinic in Shanghai, China. By 2022, the group had expanded further, launching eight clinics across Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chengdu, and Chongqing.
In October 2019, Dr. Jørgensen announced the IPO of EuroEyes on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, making it the first German company to be listed there.
Dr. Jørgensen currently serves as the CEO, Medical Director, and Chairman of the EuroEyes International Group.
In October 2020, Dr. Jørgensen was elected as a member of the International Intraocular Implant Club (IIIC), a prestigious organisation of leading global experts in intraocular surgery.
